PM: From 2024, Cambodia Will Use Covid-19 Vaccine, Which Packaged Locally

Phnom Penh: The Prime Minister of Cambodia, Hun Sen, urged people to get vaccinated to protect themselves from Covid-19, even though Cambodia has not found the disease for 26 days. He confirmed to the people that from 2024, Cambodia will use the Covid-19 vaccine, which is packaged locally.

In a special audio message on the evening of June 1, 2022, PM Hun Sen said that in 2024, the Cambodian pharmaceutical industry will cooperate with the Chinese vaccine manufacturer Sinovac, which will be supplied to the Royal Government nearly 35 million doses per year, the plan is to supply three years until 2026, which is more than 104 million doses.

He said: "For the sake of foreknowledge, today I would like to express to all the venerable monks, as well as our compatriots, that we have decided to sign an agreement to purchase the vaccine, an additional 104,873,157 doses will be packaged in our country for the three-year demand, from 2024 to 2026."

He adds that from 2022 until 2023, Cambodia will use vaccines that donate from other countries and vaccines that Cambodia purchased.

He said that in the past 26 days, Cambodia has not found the case of Covid-19, which is a success of vaccination, however, he reminded that the disease is still in red alert, urging Citizens should be vaccinated against Covid-19, both at the basic dose and in the booster dose.

He stated that for the vaccination, even if it is given in the 10th dose, the Royal Government does not take money from the people.

According to Prime Minister, so far, of the more than 13 million people who have been vaccinated against Covid-19, more than 9 million have been vaccinated 3rd dose and more than 2.5 million have been vaccinated fourth dose.
